Exporting Your Wallet
Understand the security implications and process for exporting your wallet.
Exporting Your Wallet
While your wallet is designed to be used with the security of passkeys, you may have situations where you need to export your private keys to migrate to another wallet. This is a highly sensitive action that should be performed with extreme caution.
Security Warning
Warning: Revealing Private Keys
Exporting your wallet will reveal your private keys. Anyone who gains access to these keys will have full and irreversible control of your funds. Never share them, screen-shot them, or store them in an insecure location like a plain text file or in the cloud.
The Turnkey Secure Export Flow
For your protection, your private keys are never exposed directly in the browser. When you initiate an export:
- A confirmation dialog will appear, warning you of the risks.
- Upon confirmation, a secure window from Turnkey will be opened.
- You will be prompted to authenticate with your passkey (Face ID, fingerprint, etc.) within the Turnkey environment.
- Once authenticated, Turnkey will securely display your private keys for you to copy.
This process ensures that the wallet application itself never has access to your raw private keys, maintaining the zero-knowledge security model.
How to Initiate an Export
You can start the export process from the wallet card on your main dashboard by clicking the "Export Wallet" button. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully.
